A: I'd planned to write a novella for the Realms of Elves anthology that would pick up a thread from the novel Evermeet. The story I had in mind was inspired by James Hilton's classic, Lost Horizons, a book I read and loved as a child.
So. I got the story concept approved, had the contract in hand--the whole enchilada. But a couple of months before the story was due, I started having debilitating headaches that made it impossible for me to write for any length of time. I was misdiagnosed with macular degeneration, which is a Very Bad Thing for people who like to, you know, see. By the time this got sorted out, I was badly behind schedule. Something had to give, and unfortunately, this story was it.
